Translation is a 3-stage process performed by multiple linguists. The source material is first translated into the target language. The second stage of the translation process involves editors, who review the translation for style, form and accuracy to ensure that the translation holds true to the original source content. Proofreading is the third and final stage, where proofreaders verify the spelling, punctuation and formatting of the translated document. The proofreaders also ensure that the final product does not appear to have been "translated". To meet your goals and our high standards, we assign projects to professional linguists, all native speakers of the target language and each specialized in the subject matter of your project.

We make certain that language glossaries are developed and used for each and every project by all linguists to ensure consistency in terminology and to speed up the translation process. We encourage client reviewers to proofread translations for agency-specific terminology that can be incorporated into the final product.

Certification: At your request, we can provide certification, a written document, signed by the translation company that guarantees the translation of a document is true to the original.

Project Management

A project manager is the driving force and a key member of a localization team for managing translation/localization projects. Kramer Translations assigns a qualified project manager to every project to manage client expectations, schedules, deadlines, budgets and production teams. The project manager also acts as the day-to-day contact for our clients.

As your project managers, we:

  • are involved in the planning, production and final delivery of a project.
  • are the communication portal for linguists, desktop publishers, engineers and you, our clients.
  • monitor and report progress to ensure that client expectations are met on time and within budget.
  • only work with professional linguists, native speakers of the target language that are specialized in the industry.

Desktop Publishing

Desktop Publishing is the use of a personal computer (MAC or PC) and special software, such as PageMaker, QuarkXPress, FrameMaker, MS Publisher, Illustrator, PhotoShop, etc., to lay out a page of text, pictures and graphical elements ready for printing or web viewing.

Because translation affects the length and appearance of a document, the document will need to be reformatted after text translation is completed. Also, associated graphics need adjustment to ensure they are applicable to the target audience. We have the special equipment required to handle languages that use different typescripts and can provide a one-stop solution for your publishing needs. Using a variety of graphics tools and operating systems, our team of desktop publishers will reformat and adapt your documentation to the appropriate target culture to ensure that all linguistic and graphic transitions are accurate and consistent.

Cultural Adaptation

No matter how professional the translation, original content is sometimes not appropriate or applicable when moved to another culture. A word, an expression, a marketing concept, a symbol, an icon or even a color can take on different meanings within various cultures. To avoid misunderstandings and conflicts with local laws and to gain acceptance in the marketplace, it is advisable to conduct cultural appropriateness reviews for the intended audience. We can evaluate your tagline, slogan or copy and test them for appropriateness and acceptability for the designated audience.

Interpretation

We provide both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation services in many languages, all from and into English. We can assist you in designating appropriate interpreters for courtroom proceedings, international conferences and healthcare institutions. Our interpreters, most court-certified and all native speakers of the target language, are recruited from the database of The Judicial Council of California and other professional organizations. We can also provide on-site coordination and interpreting equipment.

Voice-over and Subtitling

For voice-overs and subtitling of corporate videos, commercials and infomercials, we have access to a large selection of foreign language talent.

Quality Control

Kramer Translations takes great pride in its translation efforts and applies rigorous, proven standards to ensure the accuracy and quality of the final product. We have formulated a series of guidelines and quality control measures to meet industry specifics and ISO certification standards.

Website Localization

Website localization, besides text translation, is the process of adapting text and cultural content to target audiences in specific locations when translating a website (i.e. to the language, cultural norms, standards, laws and requirements of the target country.) It includes modifying images, colors, currency, time formats, etc. to ensure appropriateness in the target culture.

At Kramer Translations, we recognize the importance of marketing your products and services on the Internet, and we know that translating your website will help you stand out in the marketplace. Our team of localization engineers, designers and linguists will make sure your localized website looks and feels as though it has been originally created in the target language.

Software Localization

Software localization is the process of adapting a software program to a specific environment, i.e. to its language, legal requirements, standards and cultural norms as well as to the needs and expectations of a specific target market. This means, for instance, that all messages are in the target language, that they can input names, addresses, dates, and other data in the same way they would write them down on paper, that they can freely use their standard keyboard characters wherever an entry can be made, and that any error messages are comprehensible to them. The process is performed by taking the source code developed for one country and modifying it to satisfy the needs of other countries. It includes translating the user interface into a foreign language, resizing dialog boxes to fit the new language and customizing features if necessary.

Our technical translation teams and software localization engineers all work together to provide a single-source solution for your localization needs. Our software localization services include engineering, testing and UI verification for software, online help, multimedia, websites, and server and client-side applications.
